Sept 12th Old Growth Oak Morgans Update

OGO Primavera ToughStuff is growing and starting to look more like a normal foal now, after all at over 5 weeks old he should just NOW be born!

WoodRose Katrina fairs less well. Her front foot continues to cause her pain. We went from pads to soft wraps after she blew an abcess then back to the pads but by then she was having such a hard time getting up and down that it was causing the pads to slip forward which ends up causing her more pain. We have now switched to hard pads with frog support that puts slightly more pressure on the frog of the foot instead of the sole and the hoof wall in hopes that it will relieve some of the pressure. It consists of thick cotten then brown gauge to keep the cotten on then the hard palstic pad then vet wrap to keep that on then duct tape over that to re enforce and keep moisture out. At the moment Katrina seems no worse and there are hopes that in a day or two she will actual be better than she has been. I have my fingers crossed.

Here are some pictures I took today, as you can see ToughStuff has grown, he can now fits properly in a foal halter and he drinks water really well and is beginning to eat alfalfa hay. Next step is to get him to start trying the Senior Equine.
